What Counts as a Local Move

A local move stays within our regular service area and is normally completed in a single day, with the same crew loading in the morning and unloading in the afternoon. Nearly every move within the Denver metro and the Front Range falls into this category.

Once a move crosses a state line, or travels far enough that delivery happens on a different day, we plan and price it differently. That’s long-distance moving, and it’s a separate service with a longer lead time.

If you’re not sure which one you need, please tell us both addresses, and we’ll let you know.

What a Local Move With Us Includes

Most in-town moves are completed in a single day by a crew sized to your home, with everything loaded, transported, and placed where you want it before we leave.

Furniture wrapping, padding, and floor protection
Disassembly and reassembly of beds, tables, and larger furniture
Loading, transport, and unloading in one trip where the volume allows
Placement of furniture and boxes room by room
Optional packing help or labor-only support if you’re loading yourself

What's Not Included

Worth knowing in advance, because these are the things that cause problems on moving day:

Hazardous and flammable materials. Propane tanks, gasoline, paint, aerosols, ammunition, and similar items can’t legally ride in a moving truck.
Appliance disconnection. Gas lines, water lines, and hardwired appliances generally need a licensed trade to disconnect and reconnect. We’ll move the appliance once it’s disconnected.
Perishables and plants. Food that can spoil and live plants don’t travel well in a truck, especially in summer heat or a cold snap.
High-value personal items. Cash, jewelry, important documents, and irreplaceable small valuables are best kept with you.

How Your Local Move Works

We walk through the details before confirming your date, so the crew that shows up already knows what the job needs.

Request a quote. Share your inventory, addresses, and preferred date online or by phone.
Review the plan. We confirm crew size, truck size, stairs, elevators, and any items that need special handling.
Lock in the date. You get a clear estimate before booking anything.
Moving day. We wrap, load, transport, and unload, then place everything where you want it.

Angel, Albert, and Andrew did an exceptional job for us on our move. They arrived on time, were very careful with all of our belongings, and they were receptive to our thoughts. They did the work efficiently with a great attitude.

I requested a quote last minute on Saturday to get a move scheduled for Sunday. They were very accommodating and was able to get a move scheduled. The movers themselves were professional and worked very efficiently. I would definitely recommend them again.

I would give 6 stars for Samurai movers! They are always careful and professional. Easy and expert estimating to assure right size truck and moving professionals. Forest, Henry and Tyler were magicians carefully moving furniture into a very challenging space. Thank you so much.

Awesome job from these guys! Andrew and Henry showed up on time and were very friendly and polite. They made sure to wrap up fragile items and were very careful with everything, including a glass top desk. We moved from a third floor with no elevators to a second floor and they didn’t even hesitate or slow down. Highly recommend Samurai Movers!

Andrew Malousek

I was truly impressed with the movers who showed up for my moving job. They were friendly, moved *fast* and were very conscientious and careful. I highly recommend this company to anyone who needs moving help!

Moving Presence

The best moving experience from submitting a request with a call, bid within one hour! Very personable, available, professional - keeping in touch up until move date to make sure inventory was accurate. Responded quickly to texts and phone calls The day of move Victor and Andrew showed up on time. They were very quick while showing care for my items. They knew exactly how to move safely and efficiently. They stored my items following my request to have access to a few bins with the labels in view! So helpful!! The bid matched final charges. I can’t recommend them highly enough!! They are a local company and it makes a big difference in care and accessibility. I will definitely use them again!

Quick, easy and affordable. Samurai Movers is where it's at! Super friendly and helpful moving team as well!

Probably a 4.5 LOL Polite, on time and very efficient. I used labor only without packing or a truck because I only moved two doors down in my complex Only two issues one of which was not Vincent or Angel’s fault - towards the end of the move a dolly wheel must have caught a pebble and locked up which left a wheel mark on the carpet. Haven’t tried to clean it yet but probably no big deal since it’s superficial, top of carpet fibers A couple of scratches on the side of a bookcase, probably should have had a pad between it and the dolly - but it’s inexpensive MDF and scratches easily anyway Heads up that the move time begins when truck leaves their home base - which I knew and is in the contract I’d use Samurai Movers again

Update: They did it again! Andrew and Victor, did a wonderful job helping me move once again. They ended up getting to my new home before me and started unpacking things by the front door to save time. Samurai movers will always be my “go-to” moving company. They have now helped me through 3 different moves and every single time it was well worth the money spent to have them help me. Thanks again guys! Andrew and Henry did a fantastic job moving us into a larger home for our family. Upon arrival they jumped right in with us and started moving things immediately. They were kind, respectful, and detail oriented. I also want to give a shout out to Bryant who helped me book my move with ease as I had trouble finding time to call. He was patient with me and accommodated by using text rather than having me find a time to call. Overall, I highly recommend this company to anyone who needs help moving or maybe just needs a break from heavy lifting. These guys are worth every penny spent and more. Thank you Samurai Movers!-again!

If you need to move, you should choose this company!! It’s not often that a company surprises you in a good way. It was seamless from start to finish. They moved my elderly parents and were even patient and helpful with them. Definitely a 10!!

Karmon Baker

These guys moved our furniture with care and speed...quite conscientious for sure! Definitely recommend them. Thanks Andrew and crew

What Affects the Cost of a Local Move

Your home’s size and the amount of furniture set the baseline. A handful of details move the number from there:

How many rooms there are and how much furniture is going
Stairs, elevators, and how far the truck can park from the door
Whether you want packing help or are packing yourself
Specialty items such as pianos, safes, or oversized furniture
The date and time of your move; month-end and weekends are the busiest windows

Please tell us what you’re moving, and we’ll give you a straight number.

FAQs

How is a local move priced?

Local moves are priced hourly based on the number of movers and trucks needed. A truck fee also applies, along with a fuel charge of $1 per mile after the first 20 miles. The total cost will depend on the size and scope of the move and how long it takes to complete.

Do you charge extra for stairs, elevators, or long carries?

No additional charge applies for one flight of stairs, elevators, or long carries. A surcharge applies for tw-floor staircases or higher. While elevators and long carries don’t cost extra, they can add time to the move and may affect the overall cost.

Can you help with packing or furniture disassembly during a local move?

Yes. We can assist with both packing and furniture disassembly. For packing services, we generally recommend scheduling them one to two days before the move. We can also disassemble and reassemble common furniture such as bed frames, desks, and tables as part of the move.

What areas do you serve for local moves?

Most of our local moves are within about 35 miles of Broomfield, but we regularly serve communities throughout the surrounding area.

Do I need to be there on moving day?

Yes, we ask that you or someone you trust be there when the crew arrives. This lets us complete the moving agreement, walk through the home with you, and make sure the crew understands what needs to be moved and any specific instructions before they start.

Local Movers Who Know the Front Range

Broomfield is our home base, and our crews work the metro every day. We know which Denver buildings need a reserved elevator, where parking gets tight in Boulder, and how long the run really takes between Thornton and Arvada on a weekday morning. That local knowledge is the difference between a move that runs on schedule and one that doesn't.
